Mr. English has experience in the following areas:

  • Business Litigation. Mr. English has over twenty-four years of experience representing businesses in a wide range of matters. He has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in federal and state court litigation involving commercial disputes, contract claims and class actions.

  • Products Liability. Mr. English has represented both international and domestic manufacturers in products liability litigation involving farm machinery, automobiles, industrial equipment and household products. He has significant trial experience in both federal and state court.

  • Environmental Litigation. Mr. English has represented businesses involved in significant environmental litigation in federal court.

  • Construction Claims. Mr. English has represented both contractors and owners in court and in arbitration proceedings involving construction disputes.

  • Insurance Defense. Mr. English has represented businesses, individuals and insurance companies in coverage and bad faith litigation.

  • Civil Litigation. Mr. English has tried numerous cases in federal and state court. He has represented county governments in civil rights litigation, property owners in condemnation proceedings and employers seeking injunctions to enforce covenants not to compete. He has also handled appeals in both federal and state court and is a life member of the Judicial Conference for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

Bar Activities

Mr. English has been active in bar association and community activities for a number of years. He is the Vice President of the Kentucky Bar Association and a member of its Board of Governors. He served on the Board of the Kentucky Young Lawyers Section from 1985 to 1992 and was chairman of the Section in 1991. The Kentucky Bar Association recognized Mr. English as the Outstanding Young Lawyer in Kentucky in 1992.

He has also served as chairman of the Kentucky Bar Association Professionalism Committee and Paralegal Committee and has served on the Annual Convention Committee, Rules Committee, Budget Committee and Client Assistance Program and as a trustee for the IOLTA Fund.

Other Professional and Community Activities

Mr. English served two terms as President of the United Way of Southern Kentucky, has served on the Board of United Way of Kentucky and was also on the Board of Directors for the Bowling Green-Warren County Chamber of Commerce and the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce. He has served as a Director and President of the Shaker Museum in South Union, Kentucky. He is a 1996 graduate of Leadership Kentucky. In 1989, the Bowling Green-Warren County Bar Association recognized Mr. English’s service with the Gwyneth B. Davis Outstanding Public Service Award for his commitment to public service and dedication to the principles of community spirit.
