Attorney Nathan Vinson recently graduated from Leadership Bowling Green. Leadership Bowling Green is a leadership development program coordinated by the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce. The program, which began in 1985, involves nine sessions, began with a retreat in April and ended with a graduation in November.

During the nine sessions, the class studied the community’s strengths and challenges through lectures, discussions, tours and role-playing activities. The goal is to gain a wide knowledge about Bowling Green through an overview of a variety of community functions.

Each class also creates a service project. This year’s service project was “Career Exploration,” which will help 10th grade students at Warren Central High School (with prospects of extending the project to other local high schools) discover their career interests and prepare for careers after graduation. Students will also be eligible to apply for a scholarship to Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College, funded by money raised by Leadership Bowling Green Class of 2017.

Nathan appreciates the way the program connected him with new people and strengthened his knowledge of Bowling Green.

“I have only lived in Bowling Green nearly four years now, and although I have been familiar with the region all my life as a native Kentuckian, Leadership Bowling Green helped me get to know different aspects of the community and helped me gain a greater appreciation for the region,” Nathan says. “I’m grateful for the time I spent with this group of outstanding community leaders. I am proud of the work that we did together. Everyone displayed great commitment to the project and the community as a whole.”
