From high school, Catherine Stone loved to read and enjoyed writing and public speaking. When she learned about the field of law, she knew she had found her fit.
She joined ELPO at the age of 19, serving as a staff assistant during college at Western Kentucky University and then serving two summer clerkships at the firm while in law school. “Working for ELPO in college really showed me what the day-to-day work was like,” Catherine said. “I was intrigued by the challenging nature of the work and the complex nature of the problems presented.”
Getting to know the clients has been the most interesting part of the job, Catherine says. “That’s my favorite part,” Catherine said. “It puts a face with the work you’re doing, and you get to know who you are fighting for.”
Returning to Southcentral Kentucky seemed like a natural fit for Catherine. She loves the area and is happy to be home. “Everyone is so kind and friendly and they have a genuine interest in me as a person,” Catherine said. “They take an interest in me, and they do that with everyone. It’s a great atmosphere. You hope to stay in a place like that forever.”
