ELPO staff helps with Feed the Need drive

by Mandy Hicks

ELPO volunteers worked at grocery stores in Bowling Green on Friday, March 16, to collect non-perishable food for the United Way Feed the Need Food Drive. Attorneys and staff of ELPO collected canned goods and other food items throughout the day.

The drive is collecting for food banks throughout the area, helping replenish supplies in a difficult economic time. “Feed the Need” was created in 2009 in response to the increased need in our communities for basic resources as a result of the economic downturn. After speaking with the local food pantries that have benefited from the drive over the last three years, it is abundantly clear that the need for this drive continues this year. Since it’s inception United Way’s “Feed the Need” Food Drive has collected 147,250 non-perishable items for local food banks in Southern Kentucky.

All donations will benefit food banks in the county in which the donations were collected. The benefiting food banks include Barren River Area Safe Space, Community Action of Southern Kentucky, Community Relief Fund, Good Samaritan of Logan and Simpson Counties, The International Center, and The Salvation Army.
