Buzz English honored with BGHS Wall of Fame

Buzz English, a partner and attorney at ELPO, was recently honored with induction into Bowling Green High School Wall of Fame. He was inducted on Saturday night, April 28, along with eight other BGHS graduates who have achieved success in Kentucky and beyond.

Buzz graduated from BGHS in 1976. He was honored for his commitment to the law profession and the community. His service within the profession of law includes serving as president of the Kentucky Bar Association, an active member of the American Bar Foundation, a member of the ABA Standing Committee for Bar Services and on the board of directors of Lawyers Mutual Insurance Company of Kentucky, Inc. Buzz has been active in lobbying Congress for increased funding for the Legal Services Corporation, which provides legal services to the poor.

In the Bowling Green community, he has served on the boards of United Way of Southern Kentucky, United Way of Kentucky, Bowling Green-Warren County Chamber of Commerce and he was a member of the first Leadership Bowling Green class.

In Kentucky, he has served on the board of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and graduated from the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Leadership Kentucky program in 1996. Buzz has served on the University of Kentucky UKAN Network, working with Dr. Lee Todd, then president of the University of Kentucky, to help organize a network of UK supporters who are willing to contact and educate local legislators when an issue affecting the University of Kentucky comes before the legislature. He also served on the Kentucky Public Advocacy Commission, which sets policy for the Department of Public Advocacy which is responsible for providing defense lawyers in criminal proceedings to indigent defendants. He also served as President of the Board of Directors of the Shaker Museum at South Union, Kentucky.

“It is an honor to be included in a very distinguished class of inductees,” Buzz said. “The other honorees include some household names in Bowling Green and very accomplished educators, a journalist, and others with significant community commitments. I am happy to be in such good company.”

Buzz practices primarily in the area of business law.
