ELPO Law Partner Park Priest Co-Authors The Meritas US & Canada Cannabis Guide

by Mandy Hicks

The legal landscape associated with the emerging cannabis industry in the United States and Canada can be confusing.

In the US, cannabis remains a Schedule I drug, and therefore illegal on the federal level. However, most US states have some form of medical and/or adult-use cannabis law in place. In Canada, the third anniversary of cannabis legalization, in fall of 2021, will see the start of a legislative review of the Cannabis Act and its impact on public health, potentially leading to significant policy and legislative changes.

ELPO Law Partner Park Priest worked with fellow colleagues of the Meritas legal association on a new guide to help navigate the cannabis industry legal landscape. The Meritas US & Canada Cannabis Guide, a comprehensive overview of national, local, and tribal laws affecting the cannabis, hemp, and CBD industries, will help companies navigate this high-potential but risky business.

Thanks to the work of dozens of Meritas Law Firms Worldwide, The Meritas US & Canada Cannabis Guide has now been released and is available for download here: https://www.meritas.org/insight/businessguide/Cannabis-Guide-for-the-USA-Canada.
