ELPO Law Announces Attorney Transition from Of Counsel Role

by Ashley Carter

English, Lucas, Priest & Owsley, LLP (ELPO Law) announces today that Tyler Gill is stepping away from his role as Of Counsel with the firm, effective June 25, 2026.

Gill, a former judge, served with distinction as a Circuit Judge in Logan and Todd Counties for 24 years and as a District Judge for two years. Following his retirement from the 7th Circuit in July 2019, he would eventually join ELPO Law as Of Counsel, where he has been a valued advisor, mentor, and colleague to the entire legal team.

Judge Gill has this to say as he reflects on his time with ELPO Law, “My association with ELPO has been a wonderful and personally beneficial experience. When I retired from the bench, I never expected to become associated with one of the preeminent law firms in the State. I worked with attorneys and staff who consistently perform at the highest level of competence, expertise and professionalism, and I will always consider my association with this group among the highest honors of my life.”

Currently, Gill participates in the Administrative Office of the Courts’ (AOC) Retired Judges Program, which permits retired judges to be assigned across the Commonwealth as needed upon Order of the Chief Justice. While he has greatly enjoyed his time with ELPO Law, his true passion remains serving on the bench. Gill feels that judges must always remember what it means to stand opposite the judge and be a passionate advocate for a case and our fellow citizens. He feels called to dedicate more of his time and energy to the Retired Judges Program and refocus his attention on judicial work.

“We are deeply grateful for Judge Gill’s contributions to ELPO Law and for the wisdom, professionalism, and integrity he has shared with our attorneys, staff, and clients,” says ELPO Law Managing Partner, Bob Young. “We wish him continued success as he pursues this next chapter of public service and know that the courts and communities he serves will continue to benefit from his experience and leadership.”
