Each year, ELPO’s attorneys, staff and management work together to raise funds for Relay for Life of Warren County. The group raises money by wrapping presents during the holidays, holding a one-day live auction each spring, accepting donations and by selling fun items for children at the Relay for Life event in early June. Relay for Life was held this year from June 1 to 2.

Relay for Life invites teams to fundraise prior to the Relay, and then teams camp out around a track while one member of the team walks, trading off throughout the night. Victims of cancer are remembered after dark.

This year, ELPO raised $6,974 for Relay for Life. It is the firm’s largest annual fundraiser involving the most members of staff. Gail Thomas, billing supervisor at ELPO, coordinates the firm’s efforts as captain of the Relay team and communicates with the local office of the American Cancer Society. “We became involved with Relay for Life several years ago, and have found it a great way to give back to the community,” Gail says. “Cancer has touched, and taken, so many lives. All of us here know someone who has had cancer or has lost a loved one or family member to cancer. We feel that it is important to work to support cancer research in hopes of curtailing the toll it takes on all of our lives.”
