Maira Gomez Joins ELPO Law as Associate Attorney

Maira Gomez has joined English, Lucas, Priest & Owsley, LLP as an associate attorney after being sworn in on April 22, 2022. Maira currently practices in the areas of Immigration Law, Employment Law, and Family Law.

Maira graduated Cum Laude from Western Kentucky University (WKU) in May 2012 with a B.A. in Spanish, and minors including Criminology and Legal Studies. While attending WKU, Maira studied abroad in Spain in the spring of 2011.

Upon graduation from WKU, Maira attended the University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law and graduated in May 2021 where she earned her J.D. While attending the Rosenberg College of Law, Maira was a member of the Trial Advocacy Board; quarterfinalist at the Black Law Student Association Constance Baker Motley Mock Trial Competition; served as President for the Latino Law Student Association; Events Coordinator for the Christian Legal Society; and Student Advisor for the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Student Advisory Board.

Prior to graduation from the Rosenberg College of Law, Maira completed an Immigration Externship at the Kentucky Refugee Ministries and a Judicial Externship for Judge Julie Goodman in the Fayette Circuit Court Fourth Division; served as a Law Clerk for Church Law; served as a Legal Assistant for Hughes & Coleman Injury Lawyers, Bedford Law Group, and the Law Offices of Paul Aghabala; completed  internships with the Kentucky General Assembly Legislative Session for 2020 and with Maxwell Street Legal Clinic; and held the position of Intake Specialist at The May Firm.

Maira currently serves on the Board of Directors for Phoenix Rising, The Foundry Christian Community Center, and was formerly involved with Step by Step, and the Kentucky State Representative Campaign. Maira is fluent in Spanish, a beginner in French, enjoys attending church events as well as spending time with family and friends, fitness, hiking, horseback riding, traveling, and cooking. Maira is excited to be back in Bowling Green and looks forward to serving the Bowling Green community.
